Maher’s signing comes just hours after the team released Lucas Havrisik. Maher, 34, kicked in seven games for the Rams earlier this season, converting on 17-of-23 attempts while making all 12 of his extra points. His 73.9 percent field goal percent is well off his 90.6 percent mark from 2022, but Maher is a veteran kicker who has converted on nearly 80 percent of his attempts for his career. We’ll see if he’s able to solve the Rams’ kicking woes with one game to go until the postseason.

Maher missed two of his three field goal attempts and an extra point against the Steelers in Week 7 as LA lost 24-17. On the season, Maher has made 17 of 23 field goal tries. In Week 6, he made all four of his field goals. Maher will likely land elsewhere at some point this season.

Maher was released by Denver after they traded for Sean Payton alumni Wil Lutz. The Rams didn’t have a kicker on the roster before signing Maher, so the move locks in Maher as their kicker for the start of the season. Rookie kicker Tanner Brown was released by LA on Tuesday. If the Rams’ offense turns things around this year, Maher should be a solid fantasy option at the position.

Just minutes after the Broncos acquired Wil Lutz from the Saints, the team opted to release Maher. Maher, who joined the Broncos this offseason, converted 29-of-32 field goal attempts for the Cowboys last season and has made 81 percent of his attempts for his career. He’ll likely land with another kicker-needy team at some point in the season.
