Commanders agreed to terms with CB Michael Davis, formerly of the Chargers.
Davis has spent the first seven years of his career with the Chargers. The former UDFA allowed an abysmal 61 receptions for 788 yards and nine touchdowns on 93 targets last season, but the Commanders will hope he still provides an upgrade to a secondary that was among the worst in the league last year. The bar is low, so as a temporary fix, Davis may be worth the risk.
Chargers CB Michael Davis (hamstring) won't play in Week 9 against the Eagles.
Neither will starting CB Asante Samuel Jr. (concussion), leaving backups Tevaughn Campbell and Ryan Smith in full-time roles alongside slot CB Chris Harris Jr. It's enough of a reason to upgrade Jalen Hurts, who only disappointed in fantasy against the Lions because the team built an early four-score lead on the ground.
Chargers re-signed CB Michael Davis to a three-year contract.
26-year-old Davis is the Bolts' top outside cover man, especially after Casey Hayward was released over the weekend. The former UDFA out of BYU has started 35 games over the last three seasons. He's picked off five balls over the last two years and broke up a career-high 14 passes in 2020 while grading out as Pro Football Focus' No. 55 corner. The Chargers will return Davis, Chris Harris, and Tevaughn Campbell at corner.
Chargers re-signed CB Michael Davis to a one-year, $3.259 million contract.
Davis had a solid year as the Bolts' No. 3 corner last season, but he currently projects as the odd man out after the Chargers signed Chris Harris to pair with Desmond King and Casey Hayward. The second-round tender does not speak to a backup, however. The Chargers are going to get creative with their embarrassment of riches at corner.
