Bills signed DE Bryan Cox, formerly of the Browns.
Cox wasn't tendered an offer last month by Cleveland. In Buffalo, he will compete for a job behind entrenched DEs Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, A.J. Epenesa, and Quinton Jefferson. Cox registered his first career half-sack last season with the Browns. He's appeared in 25 games.
Cox was forced out of Sunday's game against the Bengals with a hand injury, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Since signing with the Browns on Nov. 13, Cox has slowly increased his playing time. The 25-year-old defensive end has logged above a 50-percent snap share in four of the last five games, recording eight tackles and 0.5 sacks in the process. Porter Gustin could see additional snaps in Cox's stead.
Cox signed with the Browns on Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Cox, the son of former Dolphins' LB Bryan Cox, brings depth to Cleveland's offensive line, but he won't play too big a role in IDP formats. The 25-year-old was recently let go by the Panthers after recording a pair of tackles in Week 9.
The Panthers waived Cox on Friday, Max Henson of the team's official site reports.
Cox was waived to make room for Cole Luke on the 53-man roster. The third-year pro appeared in one game for the Panthers this season, playing 11 snaps on defense and recording two tackles (one solo) against the Titans in Week 9.
