2024 Player Outlook
Zay Jones battled injury in 2023 as well as increased target competition with the likes of Calvin Ridley, Christian Kirk, and Evan Engram. And the additions of Gabe Davis in free agency and Brian Thomas Jr. in the draft made him expendable. He was able to quickly grab a spot with the Arizona Cardinals who also have a fairly thin depth chart at wide receiver. Coach Jonathan Gannon has already praised Jones's ability to play "all of the wide receiver positions" so he could be the "next man up" behind Marvin Harrison Jr, Michael Wilson, and Greg Dortch or perhaps he could push one of the last two for a starting gig. With MHJ and Trey McBride on that team, the third target might have a tough path to upside either way.

Cardinals re-signed WR Zay Jones to a one-year, $4.4 million contract.
Jones played just 257 snaps last year and hasn’t been a fantasy-relevant contributor since 2022. The Cardinals will continue to run Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Greg Dortch ahead of Jones in three-wide sets. He could perhaps resurface with injuries, but entering his age-30 season, there’s not a lot of untapped potential in the Zay Jones business.
Zay Jones caught 4-of-5 targets for 46 yards in the Cardinals’ Week 18 win over the 49ers.
The four-catch outing doubled Jones’ Cardinals total from his first 10 games in the desert. At the end of a one-year contract as he’s two months shy of his 30th birthday, Jones never threatened Michael Wilson’s status on the boundary this season. He’s a pure role player whose fantasy moment is long gone.
Cardinals activated WR Zay Jones to their 53-man roster.
Jones was reinstated from a five-game suspension by the team last week but missed Week 6’s contest against the Packers due to a hamstring injury. Now healthy, the veteran receiver will have a chance to suit up for Week 7 against the Chargers on Monday night, and could play a bigger role than expected with Marvin Harrison Jr. currently dealing with a concussion.
Zay Jones (hamstring) won’t play in Week 6 against the Packers.
Jones was set to return from a five-game suspension but will be held out at least one more week while dealing with this hamstring injury. Jones popped up on Thursday’s injury report with the injury, so it’s possible this is a new injury he sustained in his first week back. Whether or not this is something that will sideline him for multiple weeks is unknown at this time. In addition to Jones, the Cardinals also ruled out defensive tackle Darius Robinson with a calf injury.
