Jets signed S Sharrod Neasman, formerly of the Falcons.
A longtime Falcons reserve and special teamer, Neasman appeared in all 16 games last season. Headed into his age-30 campaign, Neasman will try to earn one of the final spots on the Jets' 53-man roster.
Neasman recovered one fumble while appearing in 15 games for the Falcons during 2019.
After obliterating career highs by collecting 44 tackles and four pass deflections during 2018, the fourth-year pro out of Florida Atlantic fielded just 12 defensive snaps during all of 2019 -- though he did garner at least two-thirds of the special-teams snaps in 14 of his 15 appearances. He's suited up for 11 or more games in each of the past three seasons and last year stepped up in an increased defensive role due to a rash of secondary injuries, but he soon will become an unrestricted free agent upon the expiration of his two-year, $1.35 million contract.
Neasman (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports.
Barring a setback, Neasman will suit up Sunday. He has mostly been a special-teams player this year, seeing just eight defensive snaps all season.
Neasman (shoulder) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against Carolina.
Neasman played in last week's game against the Saints with the same injury, but suited up in just six total snaps. With the Florida Atlantic product officially sidelined for Week 14, it will be his first game missed, and Kemal Ishmael will likely be in line to see an uptick in snaps.
