Cardinals released WR Chosen Anderson.
The receiver once known as Robbie Anderson was acquired by the Cardinals last October after a Week 6 fallout with the Panthers. One of the more obvious cap casualties of this offseason, the Cardinals save $12 million against the cap with the release of Anderson, who totaled seven receptions for 76 yards in his 10 games with the Cardinals. Once a premiere deep threat in the league, Anderson set career lows in receiving yards each of the last two seasons after going for 95-1096-3 in his first season with the Panthers. On the verge of entering his age-30 season, Anderson will likely land elsewhere on a cheap salary and could serve as added depth.
Robbie Anderson (back) will not play in Week 18 against the 49ers.
Acquired at the trade deadline for a pair of late-round picks, Anderson appeared to be in line for a sizable role as Arizona's primary deep threat once he got the playbook down. Instead, he played on a majority of his team's snaps in a single game as a member of the Cardinals. He was credited with two starts and caught more than one pass in a week just once. By the end of the year, the Cardinals had resorted to playing A.J. Green over Anderson. With a cap hit of $12 million in 2023, none of which is guaranteed, Arizona will be cutting Anderson if the offseason. He will look for a home as a rotational deep threat in free agency.
Robbie Anderson (back) left Arizona's Week 17 game against Atlanta and did not return.
Anderson had a single catch for 13 yards before leaving. Andre Baccellia received some of his snaps. With Week 18 looming in a lost season, it's possible that we've seen the last of Anderson for the 2022 season. He has a $12 million cap hit for 2023 and is almost certain to be cut or restructured after a 7/76 receiving line in nine games with Arizona.
Robbie Anderson caught all four targets for 50 yards in the Cardinals' Week 14 loss to the Patriots.
Anderson served as the team's WR3 behind DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown, which was particularly interesting considering Greg Dortch's successes when called on earlier this season. Brown was moved into the slot, leaving Hopkins and Anderson on the perimeter for most of the night. Anderson maintains little value in fantasy, even with the modest breakout.
