Former Steelers FB Derek Watt retired from the NFL.
Watt, brother of TJ and JJ Watt, played for the Steelers from 2020 to 2022 after a few years with the Chargers. He mostly functioned as a road-paving blocker for ball carriers in Pittsburgh, notching just ten carries over three seasons. Watt, 31, scored two touchdowns in seven NFL seasons.
The Steelers restructured Derek Watt's contract to save $800,000 in 2021.
Pittsburgh, which started the offseason $3.3 million under the presumed NFL salary cap, will create a little more space with Watt's redone contract. Watt, 28, missed four games in 2020 after playing 16 games in each of his first four years in Pittsburgh.
Steelers declared QB Josh Dobbs, CB Mike Hilton, FB Derek Watt, DT Tyson Alualu, OL Derwin Gray, and TE Zach Gentry as inactive for Week 9 against the Cowboys.
Nothing to see here. The Steelers are favored by two touchdowns against Dallas.
Steelers declared QB Josh Dobbs, DB Mike Hilton, FB Derek Watt, DL Carlos Davis, OL Derwin Gray, TE Zach Gentry, and DL Isaiah Buggs as inactive for the Week 7 game against the Titans.
Make sure to get Watt out of your fullback-only fantasy leagues.
