Saints promoted RB Jordan Howard from the practice squad.
Howard could actually see some decent run on Monday night with Mark Ingram sidelined. The veteran running back has bounced around a few teams since the Bears selected him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and last played for the Eagles in 2021. In seven games with the Eagles, Howard rushed 86 times for 406 yards and three touchdowns while averaging a solid 4.7 YPC and 3.14 YCO/ATT. Howard isn't worth considering for your season-long fantasy lineups but could be a fun flier in tonight's single-game DFS contests.
Saints signed Jordan Howard to the practice squad.
With Latavius Murray signed by the Broncos and Tony Jones waived, the Saints needed to add some extra depth to their practice squad. Howard closed out the 2021 season on the Eagles' roster but was only a reserve option. He will get called up to the active roster if Alvin Kamara or Mark Ingram are hurt.
Saints worked out RBs Jordan Howard, Jordan Wilkins, Antonio Williams, and A.J. Rose on Tuesday.
New Orleans lost Latavius Murray to the Broncos active roster last week and Tony Jones to waivers, so they're in need of some RB depth behind Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram. Howard has mostly been ignored this offseason, with not even a workout to his name. One of these players could be selected to watch Taysom Hill rush for three more touchdowns every Sunday.
Jordan Howard didn't receive a carry in Philadelphia's Wild Card loss to Tampa, but he did catch his only target for seven yards.
Carried all offseason by the Eagles, Howard was able to pop in as a decent fill-in back as dictated by Philadelphia’s injury and/or COVID-19 circumstances. Howard will be an unrestricted free agent of the “can’t play on passing downs” class. It wouldn’t be surprising if he wound up back with the Eagles as they are clearly the current NFL team that values him the most.
