Sean McGrath

San Diego had to put four guys on IR this week, so McGrath and a few other will get to dress in Week 17. McGrath has been on San Diego's practice squad for several weeks. McGrath dressed in 2013 with Kansas City. In 16 games and nine starts with the Chiefs, McGrath caught 26 passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns.

McGrath cleared waivers Monday and was re-signed to the Chargers practice squad. After a stint in Kansas City in 2013, McGrath and his awesome beard haven't participated in an NFL game since.

McGrath was signed earlier in November to provide depth at TE when both Antonio Gates and Ladarius Green were nicked up. Now that both are healthier, McGrath becomes a luxury no longer needed on the 53-man roster.

San Diego bringing in a new tight end means Ladarius Green owners should be getting nervous right now. McGrath will have a bye week in Week 10 to get up to speed in the offense and in his timing with Philip Rivers. Antonio Gates is clearly the starter at tight end but McGrath could be a okay backup for the Chargers.
