McGill played a little down the stretch for the 49ers after being elevated off the practice squad. The veteran has 5.5 sacks and 23 quarterback hits in 55 career games and should be a lower-level rung of defensive line depth for the 49ers again in 2023. 

McGill, 29, spent the final 10 weeks of this past season on the Vikings' practice squad and was elevated to the active roster for the final two games. He saw action on 33 defensive snaps. McGill will compete for a depth job this summer.

McGill lasted less the a week on the Saints' roster and was not even able to suit up for one contest. Instead, the team opted to bring in other defensive line depth in a corresponding move.

McGill appeared briefly in three contests for the Chargers earlier in the season, but he was ultimately waived by the Bolts in in late November. The Saints suddenly lacked depth along their defensive line after being forced to place Marcus Davenport (foot) and Sheldon Rankins (ankle) on IR this week, lending McGill another opportunity to find a new home.
