Colts signed FB Roosevelt Nix to a one-year contract.
Nix spent much of last season on IR after appearing in just three games. He was released last month. Nix was a Pro Bowler in 2017 but has appeared in just 19 games since. The Colts have never carried a fullback under Frank Reich. 28-year-old Nix is a roster longshot.
Steelers released FB Roosevelt Nix.
The move clears $1.012 million in cap space. It was inevitable after the Steelers added Derek Watt in free agency. Limited by injury last season, Nix ended up playing just 34 snaps. The lead blocker turns 28 later this month.
Nix (knee) finished the season on injured reserve having played just 35 offensive snaps.
After playing in all 16 games each of the past two seasons, Nix suffered a knee injury that limited him to just three games in 2019, finishing with two receptions (on three targets) for four yards. With just four carries for four yards and a touchdown and 12 catches for 69 yards and another score over his five-year career, Nix is primarily valued for his blocking abilities. If healthy, he will resume that role in 2020, as he has two years remaining on his contract.
