Kyle Orton
Player News
Kyle Orton has announced his retirement form the NFL.
Orton has been talking retirement for some time now and opted to come back knowing that EJ Manuel was on a short leash and it wouldn\'t be long before he was back under center. He had a fairly decent year for himself, passing for 3,018 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, but more importantly for the Bills, it was Orton who helped rookie receiver Sammy Watkins break out this year.
Kyle Orton completed 16-of-23 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown in the Bills 17-9 win over the Patriots on Sunday.
Overall it was a pretty good season for Orton who threw for 3,018 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions over 11 games for the Bills after taking over for a struggling E.J. Manuel. Though the Bills fell just short of landing a playoff spot it\'s unknown what the future holds for Orton seeing how the Bills invested a first round pick on Manuel just last season,
Bills coach Doug Marrone announces Kyle Orton will start the season finale against New England.
And why shouldn\'t he? Regardless of the Bills standings in the playoffs, Orton has certainly done enough this season to be allowed to finish what he\'s started. There is no way the Bills would be where they are or would we have seen the emergence of Sammy Watkins had EJ Manuel been under center.
Kyle Orton completed 32-of-49 passes for 329 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in the Bills 26-24 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
This was a solid game from Orton as he completed 65.3-percent of his passes and threw for three touchdowns but unfortunately for the third time in the past four games also threw two interceptions including one late in the fourth quarter which hindered the Bills comeback attempt. On the season Orton has thrown for 2,842 yards with 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions since taking over for E.J. Manuel in Week 5. The Bills will be playing for their playoff lives next weekend when they face off against division champion New England Patriots who need a win to secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
