Anthony Davis
Player News
Davis was cut by the 49ers on Wednesday after he was reinstated by the league, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Davis had gotten a second chance by the 49ers after he elected to un-retire from the game in 2016, but was cut by the team before he could get his third chance to return to the game. He was the 11th overall pick in 2010, and started in every game of his first four seasons with the team, including eight games in the postseason. Davis is now free to sign with another squad willing to give him another shot.
49ers placed Anthony Davis on reserve-left squad from exempt-left squad list
In what has been a wild few seasons for Davis, this is nothing more than a roster move for the 49ers. Davis retired for the second time before the season began which left the 49ers in a hole because he was projected a starter across their line.
Anthony Davis has retired from the NFL.
This is Davis' second retirement and likely his last. He retired the first time after worrying about his long-term health and after a year off, he just couldn't seem to regain his starting position. Best of luck to him going forward.
Anthony Davis (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 3 against Seattle.
He was unable to clear the protocols mandated by the NFL, and thus is sitting out Week 3. He has not suited up for game action since Week 1 and the victory over the Rams.
