Player News
The Cardinals placed McDonald (neck) on injured reserve, Scott Bordow of The Athletic reports.
McDonald played nine games for the Cardinals this season and posted eight tackles. His absence won't shake up the defensive dynamic, but it may afford rookie Michael Dogbe a few more snaps.
McDonald (shoulder) is questionable to return to the team's Week 9 contest against the 49ers.
McDonald was assessed by the team's medical staff after a play early in the third quarter but was ultimately able to walk off the field. With Zach Allen (neck) also sidelined, the Cardinals defensive line will be thin if McDonald is unable to return.
McDonald signed a contract with the Cardinals on Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
McDonald worked out for Arizona last Monday, and he seemingly did well enough to earn a contract. The nine-year-pro played in Oakland last season, logging 31 total tackles and two sacks over 15 games in a rotational role.
McDonald worked out for the Cardinals but did not agree to terms on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The 32-year-old spent last season with the Raiders, recording 31 tackles (19 solo) and two sacks across 15 games. Although the Cardinals may have not been the right fit, the defensive tackle has made it known that he wants to continue his career somewhere in the league.
