Giants waived Montori Hughes.
After initially being cut in preseason, NT Montori Hughes signed with the Giants ahead of their week one match up against the Cowboys. He was then inactive for game two against the Saints, and from there became more and more irrelevant. On Tuesday, to make room on their roster, the NY Giants elect to waive Hughes.

With the return of Giants' place kicker Josh Brown to the active roster, after serving his one game suspension, New York was left with two kickers on the roster. It appears the remedy to that was to release kicker Randy Bullock, and bring back DT Montori Hughes. Hughes who was a fifth round pick by the Indianapolis Colts in 2013, signed on with the Giants' practice squad last September, and by November was elevated to the active roster. He recorded six tackles in seven games over the course of the rest of the season.

Hughes had played for the Colts the past two seasons as he recorded 17 total tackles, one fumble recovery and one pass deflection in 16 games. Jay Bromley is ahead of him on the Giants depth chart and Hughes is not fantasy relevant.

The Giants picked up former Colt defensive end Hughes on Monday. He will be placed on the practice squad. He played 228 snaps last season for the Colts with minimal results. Hughes will be used a plug for the middle of a the defensive line. The Giants could use all the depth they can get.
