Nick Fairley
Player News
Fairley signed a four-year, $30 million contract with the Saints on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Nick Fairley returned to practice on Wednesday.
Fairley wasn’t expected to miss much time as veterans get a day of rest periodically during training camp. The defensive tackle is hoping to finally live up to his first round billing and is using a one-year contract with the Saints to catapult into a long-term deal. There isn’t much upside in IDP leagues for the defensive lineman so he can be avoided in this format.
Nick Fairley is not practicing with the team on Sunday.
Fairley has been playing with the first-team all off-season until today. He only got through an hour of work yesterday before going down with an injury. There's no news on the injury right now but assume it's minor unless a report says otherwise.
Nick Fairley has agreed to terms on a 1-year deal with the Saints.
The Saints desperately need interior pass rushing. Outside of Cameron Jordan, New Orleans didn't have a defensive lineman who could bother starting quarterbacks last season. Fairley won't be an every-down player very often, but he can get after the quarterback. As a rotational player last season for the Rams, Pro Football Focus ranked Fairley as their No. 6 pass rusher among defensive lineman. The 28-year-old veteran has been a plus pass rusher in each of his past five NFL seasons.
