Broncos released DL Henry Melton.
After receiving a knee injury toward the end of the first quarter in the Bronco's final preseason game, Henry Melton was carted back into the locker room. Though he eventually returned, it seemed to be worrisome enough as the Broncos released the veteran defensive tackle Friday.

After visiting with Denver earlier in the week, Melton has officially signed with the Broncos. The Broncos lost Vance Walker to a season-ending ACL tear last week and the front office immediately went out in search of defensive line depth. Though he's played defensive tackle, he'll likely be used as a defensive end in Dever's 3-4 setup. In 6 seasons Melton has recorded 134 tackles and 22.5 sacks.

Melton totaled 30 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries over 16 game as a member of the Buccaneers in 2016. He would be a solid depth piece along the defensive line for the Broncos.

The former Bear is an important part of Tampa Bay's surprisingly good defense. Veteran Tony McDaniel will likely see more snaps with Melton out.
