Brandon Thompson
Player News
Bengals will not activate Brandon Thompson (knee) from the reserve/PUP list.
That clears up an issue regarding his status. He was put on the reserve/PUP list with an ACL tear at the end of the preseason. He would only have come onto the roster as a reserve player in any event. He has very little fantasy value even if he were to be activated.
Brandon Thompson (knee) will participate in practice next week.
The Bengals would have had to place him on season-ending injured reserve or release Thompson if he wasn't available to return to practice from the PUP next week. He's recovering from a torn ACL suffered late last year. He probably won't see any game action for some time yet, but it's encouraging for him and for the Bengals that he'll be putting the pads back on and participating in practice again.
Bengals place Brandon Thompson on reserve PUP list.
Thompson is just five months removed from a Week 17 torn ACL. He missed the whole spring but the hope was that he'd be ready to go for Week 1 but that won't happen. This 26-year-old run stuffer will be eligible to return in Week 7. Thompson will be in the mix for rotational snaps when healthy.
Brandon Thompson (knee) hopes to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Thompson is still recovering from his torn ACL, but apparently he feels like he is progressing nicely enough to be ready for the regular season. In the worst of cases, Thompson would start the season on the PUP list, leaving him inactive until Week 7. In any event, Thompson is not fantasy relevant considering his status as a quasi rotational defensive lineman. Consider Thompson undraftable.
