Darnell Dockett
Player News
49ers released DT Darnell Dockett.
The 34-year-old could be at the end of his career after failing to make a 49ers team that suffered a ton of offseason losses on defense. Dockett did suffer a cracked rib and missed San Francisco's final preseason game, so it is possible he could sign with another team once his rib is healed.
Darnell Docket suffered a rib injury in Saturday's game, but it is not expected to cause him to miss any playing time.
The 49ers are expecting Dockett to be fine going forward, but they are also intending to use him as a rotational player during the regular season. If he is completely healed from that ACL tear that he suffered last August of last year, his play will likely shine on through in the beginning of the season, rendering him too valuable to take off the field; he's that talented.
Darnell Dockett will not play Saturday for the 49ers.
Dockett will not play on Saturday, but it sounds like this is the coach's choice and not injury related.
Darnell Dockett only did individual drills Wednesday and then straight to conditioning after that.
Dockett tore his ACL last season, so its completely understandable why the team is easing him back into action. Up until last year's injury, he hadn't missed more than one game in his first seasons in the NFL. Expect him to return to his regular role on the Arizona defensive line.
