Derrick Morgan

A 2010 first-round pick, Morgan played each of his nine NFL seasons with Tennessee, notching 306 tackles (208 solo) and 44.5 sacks in 118 games. He had at least 4.5 sacks every year from 2012 to 2017, averaging 6.7 per season during that stretch. With fellow outside linebacker Brian Orakpo also retiring, the Titans are counting on Cameron Wake, Harold Landry and Kamalei Correa to provide a pass rush off the edge for an otherwise stellar defense.

Morgan looked as though he was trending toward suiting up this week after practicing on a limited basis Wednesday and Thursday, but he may have suffered a setback along the way, as he was held out of the entire session Friday. It's expected that Morgan's absence will open up more snaps on the edge for Erik Walden and Kevin Dodd.

In Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, Titans' OLD Derrick Morgan injured his hamstring, and was later evaluated by team doctors. It was determined that Morgan would miss an ordinate amount of playing time, the first game of which will come Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Tennessee figures to substitute Morgan with Kevin Dodd, David Bass, and rookie Aaron Wallace.

After not practicing on Wednesday either, Morgan's status for Week 2 looks more and more bleak by the day. He only made two tackles in Week 1's contest and looks to be a veteran presence amongst the Titans defense more than he does contribute in coverage. They will miss his pass rushing ability if he's unable to play in Week 2.
