Sean Weatherspoon
Player News
LB Sean Weatherspoon has ruptured his right Achilles.
This is the second time Weatherspoon has had his season ended due to an achilles injury. The last time was in 2014 as a member of the Arizona Cardinals. Weatherspoon is extremely talented but he's only played in 25 games since the 2012 season and as an impending free agent this offseason, it could be hard for him to find work.
Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon will have an MRI Monday on his injured Achilles.
Let's hope he escaped with a pull and not a tear as a tear would end his season. The results will be released some time on Monday and this could be a significant hit for the Falcons poor defense.
Sean Weatherspoon (calf/Achilles) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Panthers.
The Falcons are currently up 8 with less than two minutes to go. Weatherspoon isn't nearly the player he used to be, but still contributes on Defense and provides significant leadership in the locker room. His injury looked bad to the naked eye, but we'll await further word before determining to seriousness of the injury.
Sean Weatherspoon agreed to a one-year deal with the Falcons.
Even after spending the 2015 season with the Cardinals, Weatherspoon's best years came in Atlanta. The Falcons were happy to bring Weatherspoon back into the fold and will start the veteran at middle linebacker next season.
