Wesley Woodyard

After leading the team in tackles for the past two seasons, Woodyard saw a reduced role in 2019. He was on the field for over half of the team's defensive snaps in just four of 15 games, working primarily as a backup inside linebacker. Woodyard will enter the offseason as a free agent, and given his decreased role with the team it would not be a surprise if he were to find a new home for the 2020 campaign and beyond.

Woodyard delivered his first sack of the season, hauling down Joe Flacco late in the fourth quarter for a 10-yard loss. One quarter earlier, he had also stuffed Phillip Lindsay in the backfield for a four-yard loss. Woodyard has lost significant playing time this season thanks to the emergence of second-year linebacker Rashaan Evans, though he made the most of his expanded opportunity in Week 6 after Jayon Brown (groin) was forced to leave the contest.

Woodyard was inactive for last Thursday's loss to Jacksonville due to the quad issue, but he appears to have recovered from the injury. The veteran linebacker has played only 19 defensive snaps this season and has primarily worked on special teams.

Woodyard was unable to practice in any capacity this week. The 33-year-old has been limited to a special-teams role so far this season, so the defense likely won't be impacted very much by his absence.
