Akeem Ayers
Player News
Colts signed Akeem Ayers on Tuesday.
Ayers was cut from the Rams roster on 53-man cut down day but now he has a new team to play for. He has also previously played for the Titans and Pats before his year in St. Louis. He will not be in the defensive package in Week 1 in all probability as he doesn't know the calls or plays but could find a home on special teams right off the block.
Rams cut LB Akeem Ayers on Saturday.
Ayers, 27, started 11 games last year for the Rams. Given his age and experience he is likely to be picked up by another team. The interesting thing to note is that the Rams kept 7 WR's on their 53-man roster. As a team that's transitioning to a young #1 overall pick in Goff, it's a bit surprising they kept so many WR's and cut a veteran like Ayers.
Akeem Ayers recorded eight tackles (four solo), a half sack, two fumble recoveries and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-17 win over the Seahawks.
Ayers had himself a great game on Sunday, as he filled the stat sheet while scoring his first career touchdown on a first half fumble recovery. Despite a nice showing, he has just 44 tackles on the season, so there are plenty of other more reliable options to deploy in IDP formats.
Rams are signing LB Akeem Ayers to a two-year deal.
