Chad Greenway
Player News
Chad Greenway is expected to announce his retirement from the NFL.
Greenway has put together a solid NFL career over the past 10 seasons in Minnesota. The Vikings originally selected him out of Iowa with the 17th overall pick of the 2006 Draft. He then went on to play 156 games regular-season games (144 starts), record over 1,100 total combined tackles and earn two Pro-Bowl selections ('11, '12).
Greenway announced in March that this would be his final season. The South Dakota native went to Iowa and was a first round pick by the Vikings in 2006, spending his entire career with the NFC North squad. He is a two-time Pro Bowler.
Chad Greenway is unsure if Week 17 will be his last NFL game.
Greenway turns 34 in January and is wrapping up his 11th NFL season, all with the Vikings. Greenway has only missed four games in his entire career, in 2014, and while his numbers have plummeted this season, Minnesota's defense is allowing the second-fewest yards per game in the NFL. The Vikings should be an attractive fantasy defense even if Greenway retires, though he would likely be missed.
Chad Greenway is practicing Tuesday.
Good news fo Vikings. Greenway has been a key part of the Vikings success on defense. This season he has 68 combined tackles with 2.5 sacks and one interception.
Chad Greenway was not at Monday's practice.
The Vikings play on Thursday night so Greenway will need quick improvement to not miss the game. Emmanuel Lamur is listed behind Greenway on the depth chart and would likely draw the start if Greenway is out.
