The 30-year old veteran is a solid player that may find another team before the start of the season, but the Giants have been clearing cap space, and McClain's $2.5 million contract was too much to keep around.

McCalin was just day-to-day with the neck issue and he wasn't expected to miss much time. Everything should be just fine moving forward.

Many are worried that McClain might not be able to play football anymore due to his rather serious neck issue. Even if the injury isn't serious, expect him to make little noise in the fantasy world due to his lack of impact play and the position that he plays.

McClain led the Giants with 116 tackles last season, so an extended absence would be a huge blow to the team's defense. There is no timetable for his return, but New York is holding their breath that he'll be ready for Week 1 against the Cowboys.
