Lions worked out Quinton Coples on Tuesday.
Coples, a former first round pick of the Jets, has bounced around a bit since being cut by New York. He was in camp with the Rams this offseason but didn't make the 53-man roster with what now looks like a middle of the road defense. If he is brought in by Detroit, he will be a depth player for a d-line that is still trying to get pressure on opposing players.
Rams sign DE Quinton Coples to a two-year deal.
Coples split time between the Jets and Dolphins last season after struggling to repeat his 2014 productivity. The Rams lost Chris Long to the Patriots in free-agency so Coples will help fill the depth on the defensive line.
Quinton Coples is visiting the Rams on Monday.
Coples will make the rounds to see if there's a job for him out there somewhere. He's been considered back-up material during his time with the Jets and Dolphins, so finding a starting gig might be tough.
Quinton Coples will visit with the Panthers Tuesday.
Coples appeared in 14 games least season between the Jets and Dolphins but totaled just eight tackles over that span as he turned in the most disappointing season of his career. The former first rounder has not lived up to expectations during his first four seasons in the NFL but is still a solid NFL body and should find a home this season.
