McClain was conditionally reinstated to the league over the weekend after not having played since 2015. Now 30, the former eighth-overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft has been suspended since December of 2016 for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
McClain (suspension) has been granted conditional reinstatement to the NFL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Now 30 years old, the eighth overall pick from the 2010 draft hasn't played football since 2015, but his pedigree should be enough to earn him a tryout. McClain had his best pro season in 2011 when he piled up 100 tackles (79 solo), five sacks and 14 pass defenses in 15 games for the Raiders.

The No. 8 overall pick from the 2010 NFL Draft last played football in 2015 and was suspended indefinitely in December 2016 for repeated violations of the league's substance abuse policy. McClain will celebrate his 30th birthday this upcoming weekend, so he may have lost a step even if his off-field issues have been sorted out. He's been in contact with the NFL Players Association, starting the process toward reinstatement.
