Daryl Washington applied for reinstatement on May 8th (2015). He was suspended for violating the league’s substance abuse policy in 2014.
A decision should come soon for the Cardinals linebacker who missed all of last year and was also suspended for the first four games in 2013 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Washington was productive when he was actually on the field as he compiled his best season in 2012, finishing with nine sacks and 134 total tackles in 16 games.
Coach Bruce Arians said suspended LB Daryl Washington has "protocols" to pass to be reinstated.
Washington missed the entire 2014 season because he was suspended for continually violating the NFL\'s substance abuse policy. Washington will have to pass a drug test before he can be reinstated, but Head Coach Bruce Arians makes it sound like that he has other \"protocols\" to pass that were set up by the team.
Update: Daryl Washington has been suspended at least one year for violating Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
This is a tough blow for the Cardinals defense as Washington contributed 75 combined tackles last year with three sacks and two interceptions.
Cardinals LB Daryl Washington will be suspended for the entire 2014 season.
Washington opened the 2013 season with a four-game suspension for violating the league\'s substance abuse policy and was just sentenced to a year of probation stemming from an assault charge. The NFL has put the hammer down even more with a full-year suspension now. The Cardinals will have a void to fill at linebacker, but they also lose a very disruptive force/distraction in the locker room.
