DeMarcus Ware
Player News
Demarcus Ware said he intends to return in 2017 rather than retire.
Ware, an 11 year veteran of the league, has been dealing with a back injury this season and has played in just 10 games but it appears as though he will return for the 2017 season. It remains to be seen how much the 34-year-old has left in the tank, as he's registered just 11.5 sacks over the past two seasons and has not played a full season's worth of games since 2014.
DeMarcus Ware had surgery on the ruptured disc in his back Friday morning.
The surgery is not believed to be career-threatening but the defensive end does turn 35 this summer so retirement could also be on Ware's mind as he enters the offseason.
DeMarcus Ware (back) will undergo surgery on Friday.
Ware's future could be contingent on the outcome of this surgery. If he comes out feeling well and his rehab goes as planned, he may move forward and play a few more seasons. That said, we may have seen the last of DeMarcus Ware. We need to keep an eye on him over these next few months because we may hear from him on what his future holds.
Broncos place DeMarcus Ware on injured reserve.
With Ware's injury plagued season coming to an end, he figures to be done as a Bronco, and could be done as a player as well due to lingering back issues. If he calls it a career, the veteran leaves with the eighth most sacks in league history. Former first rounder Shane Ray figures to slot into Ware's spot.
