Kony Ealy
Player News
Kony Ealy (concussion) remained out of practice Wednesday.
Ealy totaled 32 tackles, five sacks and three forced fumbles in 2015 as a member of the Panthers tough defensive front. Given the NFL protocols on concussions Ealy will remain sidelined until he passes all tests.
Kony Ealy is still in the NFL Concussion protocol and is not practicing.
He banged heads during the Panthers first full-padded practice on Saturday and is still being evaluated. Coming off a monster Super Bowl and a Jared Allen retirement, Ealy looks to be in for a major pass-rushing role this season if he can stay healthy.
Kony Ealy recorded four tackles, three sacks, recovered a fumble and had an interception in the Panthers Super Bowl loss to Denver.
Despite being in a rotation on the defensive line, Kony Ealy was an MVP candidate for Super Bowl 50 as he was the first player in NFL history to have at least two sacks and an interception in the Super Bowl. Ealy finished with three sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and the interception. He accounted for both of the Panther turnovers in the game. His stock has been going up and Ealy is a player to keep in mind for IDP formats next year with Carolina.
Kony Ealy will get the first shot at right end if Jared Allen is done for the playoffs.
Considering Allen suffered a fractured foot, it seems like a relatively safe bet that he won't play this week or the Super Bowl if the Panthers win against Arizona. Ealy has been a much stronger player than Ryan Delaire with 32 tackles, five sacks and three forced fumbles and is definitely deserving of the opportunity. If you play in a fantasy playoff league with an IDP, Ealy could be a nice steal this week.
