Mike DeVito
Player News
Mike DeVito has announced his retirement from the NFL.
After nine solid seasons in the NFL, former Jets and Chiefs defensive end Mike DeVito has announced it was time to call it quits. There was mutual interest between the 31-year-old and the Chiefs for one more season, but in a heartfelt letter posted in the Bangor Daily News (Maine), DeVito said it was time for the next chapter. Though DeVito won't leave the game with any sack records, his place as one of the more versatile defensive ends in football over the last decade is secure. Pro Football Focus rated him one of the best players at his position in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Chiefs have interest in retaining Mike DeVito for next season.
DeVito was a nice rotational D-linemen for the Chiefs last year and should be able to stick in that role if retained by the Chiefs. It doesn't seem likely they will use a tag on him so look for them to try and get a deal done over the next couple of weeks.
Mike DeVito did not practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury.
There is no word yet on his prospects for Week 13, but most expect him to play. In any event, he offers little upside as an IDP option due to his lack of sacks and position as an interior defensive end.
Chiefs DL Mike DeVito, LB Ramik Wilson and OL Ben Grubbs have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lions.
It's nice to know in advance when players will be out and that is what we have here with DeVito, Wilson, and Grubbs. Obviously, given their positions, none have any fantasy value in standard leagues.
