Da'Quan Bowers

A return to Tampa for the lineman is in the cards with this signing. Bowers played the last four season with the Bucs, though the were underwhelming performance-wise and he is likely just a depth grab for a struggling Bucs D-line.

Bowers was one of the top defensive end prospects coming out of college in recent memory, but for some reason, it just never seemed to click for him as a pro. He was a former number one overall recruit coming out of high school, yet has never had over three sacks in a season as a pro. He could add some nice depth to a team needing a versatile defensive lineman, but at this point, his skill-set seems to be just as a run stuffer.

Bowers was on a one-year non-guaranteed contract as the Bucs were giving him another look. He had a nice preseason game Thursday with five tackles and a sack, but overall, the team wasn't satisfied with his performance throughout camp.

Moved to DT last season and he responded with the best season since his rookie year racking up 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Bowers has not lived up to his potential since being drafted in 2011 in the second round out of Clemson so this deal might be a last ditch effort to stick in the league. He is not an impact player on the defense but he is certainly solid enough to play.
