Mario Williams
Player News
Mario Williams is not expected to be back with the Dolphins.
The writing was on the wall when the Dolphins' healthy scratched Williams in Week 17. $3.5 million of Williams' $8.485 million base salary will become guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2017 league year, so we should expect this move to happen early this offseason. Not sure who else will take a risk paying him after he quit on the Bills in 2015 and then a one-and-done season in Miami. He should only get one year offers on the open market.
When asked about possible retirement, Mario Williams said, "I don't want to end this."
With only 13 total tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2016, the former number one overall pick has been a huge disappointment. With a $10.5 million dollar salary, he figures to be one and done in Miami. Williams will more than likely sign on with another team and if he stays healthy could be productive, but his days of being a dominant player could be over.
Mario Williams (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 14.
Mario Williams (ankle) did not practice on Friday.
Williams has missed the last two practice sessions and appears that he'll miss the Dolphins Week 14 game.
