Jack Doyle announced his retirement from the NFL after nine seasons.

Doyle was signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent in 2013. Tennessee released Doyle as part of final roster cuts in order to add him to their practice squad. However, Doyle was instead claimed off waivers by the Colts, and Doyle would go on to spend his entire nine-year career in Indianapolis. Doyle served primarily as quality depth and a rotational blocker for his first three seasons, before emerging as a co-starter in 2016 with tight end Dwayne Allen. Following Allen's departure in the 2016 offseason, Doyle emerged as the Colts' starting tight end and set career highs in receptions (80) and receiving yards (690). His 2017 campaign earned him a Pro Bowl selection as an injury replacement for Rob Gronkowski. Over 131 career games, Doyle finished with 295 receptions for 2,729 yards and 24 TDs. With Mo Alie-Cox a free agent, second-year tight end Kylen Granson currently sits atop the Colts' depth chart.

Colts TE Jack Doyle caught 1-of-2 targets for 11 yards in Week 18 against Jacksonville.

It ends another quiet season for Doyle, who had one or fewer catches in 11-of-17 games. Doyle split time as the blocking complement to Mo Alie-Cox, with both playing over 50% of snaps. Owed just $750K guaranteed, the Colts would save $5.4 million if they moved on from Doyle this offseason.

Jack Doyle was not targeted in the Colts' Week 17 loss to the Raiders.

Doyle was playing through knee and ankle issues in a contest where Carson Wentz attempted a modest 27 passes. With two catches for 13 yards over his past three appearances, Doyle has disappeared from TE2 relevance just as quickly as he re-appeared in late November/early December.

Jack Doyle (knee, ankle) is questionable for Week 17 against the Raiders.

Doyle practiced in full on Friday, though it was the first time he participated all week. Mo Alie-Cox quietly logged a season-high 90% of Indianapolis' snaps with Doyle battling through ankle and knee injuries on Saturday and would reprise that role as a usage-based TE1 if the latter is ruled out against Las Vegas.
