Gavin Escobar
Player News
Former Cowboys TE Gavin Escobar has died in a rock-climbing accident at the age of 31.
Escobar was "one of two rock climbers found dead on Wednesday near Idyllwild, Calif., according to the Riverside (Calif.) County Coroner." The five-year NFL veteran had just become a firefighter with the Long Beach, California Fire Department earlier this year. An absolute tragedy. Our thoughts are with Escobar's family.
Gavin Escobar (Achilles) did not practice on Sunday.
Escobar's recovery is ahead of schedule, but he is clearly not ready to practice. He will be eased into practices eventually. Escobar is Dallas' No. 3 TE behind Jason Witten and James Hanna.

Gavin Escobar (Achilles') is expected to be ready for the regular season.
Escobar tore his Achilles in Week 15 of last season, which would make this a recovery of tremendous proportions. Your best bet is to not rely upon the reports here and to tread lightly regarding his fantasy prospects entering the season. It will take plenty of time before he is back to 100-percent.
Gavin Escobar (Achilles) is expected to begin this season on the Cowboys' PUP list.
Escobar is seven months into his rehab after going down in Week 15 of the 2015 NFL season. He already missed all of the OTAs and there is no return date set. It is very likely that he'll start the season on the 2016 reserve/PUP list. The Cowboys still have their future Hall of Fame tight end Jason Witten.
