Rod Streater
Player News
Former Browns WR Rod Streater was announced as the team's Scouting Assistant.
His hiring was mentioned in a long list of promotions that includes ex-Colts GM Ryan Grigson taking on the role of the team's Senior Football Advisor, former Eagles exec Andrew Healy as Cleveland's VP of Research & Strategy, and former 49ers Researcher Kwesi Adofo-Mensah as the organization's VP of Football Operations. All in all, Browns first-year GM Andrew Berry announced 27 additions, promotions, and/or title changes on staff.
Chiefs traded Rod Streater to the 49ers.
The Chiefs traded Streater and a draft pick for a draft pick from the Niners. Streater has only played in 4 games since 2013 where he played in all 16.
Rod Streater has gotten some first team reps so far in camp and has looked great.
Streater has been performing well during camp so far out of the slot position. Streater played in just 4 games in 2014 and 2015 recording just 10 catches for 92 yards and 1 TD over that span. He quietly signed with the Chiefs this offseason and an injury to Albert Wilson has moved Streater up the depth charts and he's been performing very well. It's worth noting that when Streater was healthy in 2012 and 2013 he played mostly in the slot to the tune of 99 catches for 1,472 yards and 7 TD's over the course of those two seasons.
Rod Streater is visiting the Chiefs on Saturday
This will be the third visit for the former Oakland Raider, after visiting with the Jets and Patriots earlier in the week. Streater was inactive for all but one game in 2015 after showing promise in 2012 and 2013, which were his first two years in the league. His rookie year he had 39 receptions, 584 yards, and three touchdowns. His second year would have got him paid had it been last season going into free agency since he had 60 receptions with 888 yards and four touchdowns. After those two seasons he played in a combined four games in two seasons, and makes you wonder what he did to anger the Oakland organization. He’s honestly had the same exact career as Travis Benjamin with 18 less games played and Benjamin got to do it in a contract year. Streater could be a steal if he goes to the right team, so keep an eye on him going into next season as a deep sleeper.
