Coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Monday and said that he is optimistic that both LB Derrick Johnson and DE Mike DeVito will be back for the start of the Chiefs offseason training program, which begins in April.
Both players landed on injured reserve back in early September as each one tore his Achilles. Obviously, the rehab is lengthy and intense, but both injuries occurred early enough in the season that both should be ready for training camp. The formidable Chiefs defense barely missed a beat losing both players in 2014, but the addition of them in 2015 should make the team significantly stronger.
Derrick Johnson had surgery to repair a torn Achilles' Thursday.
Johnson will be out for the remainder of the season for the Chiefs which is a blow to their defense.

This is a huge blow to the Kansas City Chiefs defense who have already lost their starting left end Mike DeVito for the season to a torn Achillies\' but now their defensive captain and All-Pro Derrick Johnson. The Chiefs call their next man up Vance Walker to fill Johnson\'s shoes.
Derrick Johnson has torn Achilles and is out for the rest of the season.
This injury combined with their poor performance Sunday makes the Chiefs D/ST droppable.
