Coach Jim Harbaugh said Kassim Osgood broke a bone in his hand early in Sunday's game and could be done for the season.
Osgood is a special teams guy, so while it may weaken some of their coverage on punts and kickoffs, it is not an insurmountable loss.

The 49ers were happy to bring Osgood back as they didn\'t want to lose him in the first place. Upon his initial release the team was hoping he\'s sneak through waivers so they could tuck him away on the practice squad for a few weeks. He was claimed unfortunately and had to wait until someone else deemed him expendable. Osgood will be a staple on the 49ers special teams unit.

The 49ers let Osgood go earlier in the season and were hoping to stash him on their practice squad before he was claimed off waivers. Now waived again, the 49ers will stake their claim on him once again. There\'s no fantasy value, but he does a good job on special teams.
Kissim Osgood was cut to make room for Bubba Ventrone.
Osgood failed to make the 49ers this season and now finds himself on the outs in Washington. Someone may try to stash him on their practice squad, but he only offers special teams help really, so his upside is very limited.
