The Eagles waived Johnson (ankle) from IR with an injury settlement Saturday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio reports.
Johnson struggled with a foot injury early in the preseason, and he finished the exhibition stretch with an ankle injury. Once he's healthy, he'll be free to sign with another team.
The Eagles placed Johnson (ankle) on their injured reserve list Wednesday, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Johnson actually suffered the injury during the preseason opener, and has had lingering effects. The veteran will need to sit out a minimum of eight games, and could head to waivers if he reaches an injury settlement with the team. Johnson isn't practicing Monday due to an ankle injury, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Johnson received the start in last Thursday's preseason win over the Jaguars and caught three of five targets for 23 yards, but it's unclear when he actually sustained the injury. The 30-year-old is considered day-to-day so it doesn't appear to be a serious issue, but his status for Thursday's exhibition game against the Ravens remains in doubt.
