Mike Mitchell
Player News
Colts hired Mike Mitchell as assistant secondary coach.
The No. 47 overall pick of the 2009 draft, Mitchell ended his lengthy playing career with the Colts in 2018. That was Frank Reich's first year in charge. Still only 34 years old, Mitchell is an upside addition to Reich's staff.
Mitchell has been diagnosed with a grade 1 strained soleus muscle in his calf, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Mitchell exited in the second half of Sunday night's game, but the good news for the Steelers is that they are entering a bye week and the safety may not miss any time as a result. Look for the team to update Mitchell's status once it resumes practicing next week.
Mike Mitchell is questionable to return with a knee injury.
Mitchell is a significant loss for the Steelers' defense, as he has started all 12 games this season, recording 57 total tackles with eight pass defenses and an interception. The veteran safety made one stop before leaving Sunday's game.
Mike Mitchell (stinger) is expected to return to Thursday's game against the Colts.
Mitchell suffered a stinger injury on Thursday night, but should return without issue. He's done quite well so far against a backup quarterback, so we'll see how things go for the remainder of Thursday's game.
