Player News
Falcons released LB Deone Bucannon.
Atlanta is the latest team to give up on the Cardinals' former first-round pick. Dating back to 2018, he's been with four teams over the last two calendar years. The Falcons needed the roster spot to activate DE Steven Means from the COVID-19 list.
Falcons signed LB Deone Bucannon, formerly of the Giants.
The ex-Cardinals bust played 244 forgettable snaps for the G-Men in 2019. Bucannon's hybrid skill-set ended up making him a jack of all trades, master of none as an NFLer. 2020 will be his age-28 campaign.
Bucannon recorded 25 tackles (15 solo) across nine contests in 2019.
Bucannon played a reserve/rotational role in New York's linebacker corps to begin the 2019 campaign, but he saw a steady increase in workload down the stretch. That culminated Week 16 against Washington, during which Bucannon notched seven tackles (two solo). The veteran is now set to become an unrestricted free agent.
Bucannon (illness) is active for the team's Week 16 matchup against Washington, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Bucannon appeared on the injury report Saturday but has recovered enough to be active. He's steadily seen his workload increase of late and played in a season-high 34 snaps in Week 15 against Miami.
