Texans released S Terrence Brooks.
Now on the wrong side of 30, Brooks still played some defense in 2021, but he butters his bread on special teams. He figures to land on someone else's third unit this season.
Texans re-signed S Terrence Brooks to a one-year, $2 million contract.
It's a standard special teams ace type of contract for the veteran. Recently 30 years old, Brooks played more snaps on kick coverage than defense last season.
Texans signed S Terrence Brooks, formerly of the Patriots, to a one-year, $2 million contract.
The Patriots no longer had room for Brooks with both Jalen Mills and Patrick Chung set to play major roles. Brooks, 29, totaled 528 defensive snaps in New England over the past two seasons.
Brooks (groin) is officially active for Saturday's game against the Titans.
Brooks missed the regular-season finale with the groin issue but returned to practice as a limited participant this week. The 27-year-old should play his usual reserve role in the secondary Saturday.
