Just over a week since returning from the IR, Matt Elam has a good shot at making his season debut in Week 10 against the Browns. After losing Kendrick Lewis to a thigh injury, the Ravens will likely need help at the safety position which is where Elam comes in.
Ravens are expected to place safety Matt Elam (knee) on IR.
Elam was coming off a nice camp, but underwent a knee scope to remove a chip. A first round pick in 2013, Elam has struggled throughout the beginning of his career. The move frees up a roster spot for the Ravens.
Matt Elam (knee) is a candidate to start the season on the physically unable to perform list.
Elam will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee to remove a chip. There is no timetable for his return but it is very likely that he'll be put on injured reserve which would end his season. It has been a struggle for Elam since being taken in the first round in 2013, but he was earning some praise for his training camp performance this year.
