Browns signed S Andrew Sendejo, formerly of the Vikings, to a one-year $2.25 million contract.
Sendejo reunited with the Vikings following his mid-season release from Philly last year, arguably playing too many snaps (261) as the team's nickel corner down the stretch due to Mackensie Alexander's lingering knee injury. 33 in September, Sendejo, along with recently added teammate Karl Joseph, should allow for the Browns to ease any rookie into their starting lineup cautiously.
Sendejo, who recorded six tackles (two solo) and one interception over two playoff games, finished the regular season with 17 tackles (13 solo), two defended passes and two interceptions across six games with the Vikings.
Sendejo also appeared in nine regular-season contests with the Eagles, during which he notched 28 tackles (23 solo), one sack, two defended passes and one interception. The 32-year-old played a key defensive role during the playoffs for Minnesota, filling in at nickel cornerback with both Mike Hughes (neck) and Mackensie Alexander (shoulder) on injured reserve. Sendejo is set to become an unrestricted free agent, though the team could opt to re-sign him.
Sendejo tallied seven tackles (four solo) and an interception in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Broncos.
Sendejo started at free safety in this contest and was excellent in his first game with the Vikings this year. The 32-year-old led Minnesota in tackles, and he intercepted Brandon Allen on the Vikings' two-yard line to keep the team from falling behind further before halftime. The Vikings don't play again until Dec. 2 against the Seahawks, and Sendejo's usage for that matchup likely relies on the health of Harrison Smith (hamstring) and Anthony Harris (groin).
Sendejo (groin) is active for Sunday's game against Denver and expected to start at safety opposite Harrison Smith, Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports
Sendejo sat out last Sunday's win over the Cowboys but returned to practice as a limited participant this week. The veteran safety spent the first nine weeks of the season with the Eagles but was waived and claimed by the Vikings on Nov. 6. He'll get the start with Anthony Harris out.
