The Colts have signed a backup safety and special teams player. Akeem Davis has signed his tender to return to the team. Davis has appeared in 19 NFL games with one tackle, one forced fumble and 12 special-teams tackles. He will try to win an expanded role with Indianapolis in the season ahead.

In an effort to shore up the depth on defense, the Colts have claimed safety Akeem Davis from Seattle. Davis spent time on special teams for the Seahawks and has been on the Buccaneers practice squad as well this year. His role and status with Indianapolis has yet to be determined.

Davis appeared in two games for the Saints but was nothing more than filler for them. They let him go and he now lands with the Seahawks to full the same depth role. Unless there's a significant injury, he likely won't see much time on the field.
