Peanut will retire after suffering a torn ACL at the end of the 2015 season, which had his 2016 status in doubt anyway. The veteran turnover machine will go down as one of the best fumble forcers to play the game, causing 44 in his career.
Charles Tillman has retired from the NFL.
This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone as there were a lot of rumblings "Peanut" was going to hang up his cleats after the Panthers Super Bowl run anyways. Tillman played 14 seasons in the league, featuring two Pro Bowl selections and one First-Team All NFL nomination in 2012. Tillman didn't win the illustrious Super Bowl ring and will probably fall just short of a Hall of Fame nomination.
Charles Tillman only wants to play for the Panthers when he is fully recovered from his reconstructive ACL surgery.
Tillman can't seem to stay healthy over his last three seasons. He wants a championship and staying with the Panthers would give him his best chance. The ball hawk was one of the best in the league at creating turnovers but entering his age 35 season, we're not sure how much he has left in the tank. In 2012, Tillman forced a whopping 10 fumbles and had 3 interceptions.
Charles Tillman will have ACL surgery on Wednesday.
The Panthers were dealt a huge blow in Week 17 when Charles "Peanut" Tillman was diagnosed with a torn ACL. Josh Norman will have the carry more of the load in the playoffs without the veteran presence of Tillman alongside.
