Mike Jenkins
Player News
CB Mike Jenkins was carted off of the field in Sunday's preseason game after non-contact knee injury.
Jenkins was trying to make a tackle on DeAndre Hopkins, but the latter averted the tackle and Jenkins went to the ground and had to be carted off. Non-contact knee injuries are never a good sign. Typically it means it's a torn knee ligament, but there's no word yet on the severity of the injury.
Mike Jenkins will have hand surgery Monday. Out 2-3 weeks.
Coming off a down season with the Bucs, Jenkins was brought in by the Cardinals in the offseason to provide depth to their secondary. Well so much for that. With this news he is most certainly in danger of securing a spot on the 53-man roster.
Mike Jenkins was forced from Cardinals practice on Friday.
Jenkins' injury does not appear to be too serious, as he walked off the field with an athletic trainer. An eight-year NFL veteran, Jenkins played in 14 games (five starts) for the Buccaneers last season.
Cardinals signed cornerback Mike Jenkins, the team announced Tuesday.
Jenkins is a nine-year vet at the position who has played for Dallas, Oakland, and Tampa Bay in that time for a total of 101 games. He registered just 17 tackles a season ago however and is clearly not the player he once was. He will compete for a starting role opposite the best corner in the league in Patrick Peterson but there are others in the competition. A depth signing for sure with some upside is what this amounts to.
