Justin Gilbert
Player News
Gilbert was suspended for the entire 2017 season on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Justin Gilbert was carted off the practice field Wednesday after suffering a knee injury.
Gilbert has yet to log a tackle in 2-16, so if this injury ends up being season-ending, there is little reason to panic at this time. Expect an update as more information is released.
Browns traded Justin Gilbert to the Steelers.
In a surprising move Saturday, Cleveland Browns traded former number eight overall pick, CB Justin Gilbert to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Wanting to unload Gilbert isn't what comes across as particularly surprising, but rather that it came just two seasons after he was drafted in the top ten, and even more so that he was traded in the same division. Even huge draft busts of the past have received a teams confidence for a third season, as they try desperately to capitalize on the skill that warranted a selection that high in the first place. It will be interesting to see if he can turn it around in his new home.
Justin Gilbert (concussion) is still not practicing.
Gilbert suffered the concussion in Friday's third preseason game and is still in the concussion protocol. While in the protocol he can't practice or play. While he continues to make progress, he hasn't yet cleared the tests given by doctors and until he does, this news won't change. There is a decent chance he'll be ready to start in Week 1.
