Cortez Allen
Player News
Steelers release CB Cortez Allen.
Everything has gone downhill for Allen since last season. He suffered a season ending knee injury after playing in just one game, was asked to restructure his four-year $24 million contract after just two seasons and than was released. Allen is still just 27-years old and is on the taller side for a corner. He'll find a new home as long as the knee proves it can hold up, but it won't be in Pittsburgh.
Cortez Allen is likely to be cut this offseason.
Allen has spent five seasons with the Steelers, but he appeared in just one game in 2015. The Steelers re-signed cornerback Ross Cockrell to a one-year deal Friday, and that helped make Allen largely irrelevant. Allen will likely get a shot to make somebody's roster in training camp, but he could easily be out of a job when the 2016 season begins.
Steelers placed Cortez Allen (knee) on injured reserve.
Allen has not participated on the field since Week 1. The team has decided that he will not be a factor this season and thus the move to IR.
Cortez Allen (knee) is listed as a questionable for Week 6.
Defensive back Cortez Allen has been limited in practice again this week and is listed as questionable for the Steelers on Sunday. Monitor his progress but his inactive status from last week may carry over again for this week.
