Cortland Finnegan
Player News
Saints have released Cortland Finnegan.
The veteran corner was heading towards playing in Week 1 but now he will be headed home instead as this appears to be the corresponding move to adding kicker Wil Lutz to the 53-man roster. Finnegan had a fully guaranteed contract if he was on the active roster for Week 1, so it's possible that he may be brought back as the Saints only have four corners on the active roster that moment following this move.
Saints signed free agent CB Cortland Finnegan.
With Keenan Lewis injured, the Saints signed another veteran corner in Cortland Finnegan. The Saints will be Finnegan's fourth team in four years and he hasn't had an interception since 2013. He's nothing more than a nickel at this juncture of his career.
Panthers signed Cortland Finnegan.
The Panthers needed depth in their defensive secondary after they lost Charles Tillman indefinitely with a sprained knee. Finnegan did "retire" back in March but he has continued to work out all season. Carolina has to hope he can be better than he was two years ago with the Rams and last season with the Dolphins.
Cortland Finnegan, Bradley Fletcher and Robert McClain all worked out for the Panthers on Friday.
The Panthers do not have many holes on the defensive end right now but nonetheless they worked out a few guys that could add depth to the squad. It is still yet to be seen if they will sign any of them.
